About the role
Viamo is looking for a Regional Accountant for our Asia region. He / She will be responsible for the financials of all countries in the designated region.
He / She will ensure the accurate setup of financial systems in all field offices, monitor financial compliance, coordinate regular and ad hoc production of field financial reports and budgets, and train field staff as necessary.
Working closely with Country Directors and the country’s field finance members, this position will ensure the proper financial management of field operations in the region.
Finally, the Regional accountant will update and advise the Regional Directors, Country Directors, and Financial Controller on the financial status of all the projects in his / her’s region and will supervise the region’s accountants and finance managers.
Any individual wishing to fill this role should possess a keen eye for detail; a deep understanding of General Acceptable Accounting Practices (GAAP).
Understanding of cost allocation and project accounting principles.The ability to communicate cross-culturally and manage remotely is an absolute must for success in this job.
Work closely with the Regional Director, Country Directors and Financial Controller
Ensure that financial processes are followed and all entries in the accounting system are compliant with donor requirements;
identify and recommend improvements.
Responsible for the entries in the accounting software for he / her region
Ensure that accurate and timely monthly financial close for all the entities in his / her region
Review project budgets, reports, and country cash flow requests with program staff on a regular basis and advise on the financial management of awards, including budget realignment.
Provide oversight of country offices projects pipelines, and alert and advise Country Director, Regional Director, and New Business Development of potential future funding deficits.
Take the lead on the preparation and execution of internal and donor audits.
Supervise the development of program budgets, ensuring proper provision for overheads / core costs (where necessary) and consistency with Viamo cost allocation and other policies
Lead Country revenue projections portion of the annual corporate budget and monitor progress against the budget through the year, reporting variances to the Financial Controller.
Ensure that accurate and timely monthly financial information, including actuals and forecasts for all projects in the region, flow to Regional Directors and the Financial Controller.
Manage assigned finance staff in the country offices, including their direct supervision and training, provide recommendations concerning personnel actions, and ensure that all relevant staff is mentored in the preparation of budgets and other special financial reports in response to donor requests or internal needs.
Review financial terms and conditions of contractual agreements to monitor project compliance and mitigate risk
Assist with the annual audit process by preparing account analysis, audit schedules and other requested client assistance for region and corporate.
Responsible for interpreting, analysing and / or evaluating data to monitor risks and ensure compliance to internal and external policies and regulations, applicable state and federal statutes, and uses Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP).

In one of the major markets Asia where Viamo works or Anywhere in Asia
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in finance or cost management in international development program operations with a USG or other donors, including accounting processes and systems;
or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
In-depth knowledge of USG rules, regulations, current standards and guidelines.
Advanced knowledge and skills in accounting for nonprofit organizations, including NICRA and financial reporting using relevant accounting software.
Ability to communicate, negotiate, advise, persuade, or resolve issues that can be highly complex and sensitive in nature;
ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners at all levels.
Strong leadership, mentoring and team building skills.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather and analyse a variety of information pertaining to issues and to develop appropriate recommendations for action.
Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, organised manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including awareness, sensitivity, and understanding of cross-cultural issues.
Ability to work effectively in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressure.
Proven ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, including databases and spreadsheets.
