The Chemist is responsible for performing laboratory tests in respective shift or day duty to ensure products / supplies according to established standards and guidelines.

Th incumbent will handle laboratory equipment and supplies safely and effectively while documenting laboratory activities for reference purposes.

This role will ensure timely communication of daily / weekly and monthly reports in the absence of Senior Chemist, and also ensure compliance : Safety, Low complaints, First Pass.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Laboratory Testing and Calibration ActivitiesEnsure a safe lab environmentParticipate in planning, scheduling, and coordinating the daily activities of the laboratory to ensure accurate and timely completion of testingPrioritize testing based on business needs and departmental goalsPrepare and standardize chemical reagents when necessaryEnsure necessary laboratory supplies and equipment is availableEnsure special test analysis needed to support optimization of in process parameters is performed in an appropriate and timely mannerWork with production to ensure timely in-process analysis
  • Documentation, Data Analysis and Record ActivitiesMaintain recordsEnsure special test analysis needed to support optimization of in process parameters is performed in an appropriate and timely mannerReview Out-of-Specification results with Quality Manager and implement required corrective action
  • IMS and Compliance ActivitiesMaintain accurate laboratory records for compliance with retention and data recording procedures in accordance with IMS and regulationsMaintain calibration recordsProvide assistance to audits for compliance to quality, IMS systems as per customer, quality, and regulatory systemsWork with operations providing technical assistance to identify, investigate and resolve process discrepanciesSAP Serve as an expert SAP user.
  • Foundational skills to maintain and improve current system provide training to users, create master plans, etc.

  • Training and Development ActivitiesSupport performance management activities and site development efforts to enhance the talent capability and provide ongoing personal development of staffEvaluate new analytical equipment and instrumentation methodologyEvaluate test results to improve technicians and instrument performanceTo acquire training on current GMP’s, GLP’s, ISO, IMS and standard test methods and procedures.
  • Maintain training records

    Qualified candidates will have :

    Mandatory requirements :

  • M.Sc / B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry
  • 5 years of experience in QA / QC Laboratory within Food, Pharma or Chemical industries
  • Desirable requirements :

  • Computer and Project Skills (i.e SAP, MS Office)
  • Lean methodologies e.g., Six Sigma
  • Working knowledge of analytical chromatographic and spectroscopic instrumentation and good understanding of general troubleshooting strategies
