About the team
Careem is looking for an IT Innovation and Transformation Manager who will lead the team of automation engineers and business analysts and be responsible for the vision, setup and delivery of all operational aspects of IT Innovation and Transformation team within Careem to review the existing internal business systems / processes and propose and manage digital improvements across the organization for efficiencies and improved experience.
Reporting to the Director of IT, the individual will manage a team of technology scouts spread across Careem offices and work closely with different stakeholders from IT and the wider business to identify any areas of improvement, innovation opportunities and also working with the leadership team to define and implement the future landscape for Careem’s internal digital services.

What you'll do
Overall responsible for running the IT Innovation and Transformation function with active engagement across the business to build an architectural practice to achieve digital transformation goals.
Define and execute technology roadmap for Careem internal systems.
Use in-depth knowledge of the current technology landscape to quickly assist with and drive technology selection and build vs buy vs.
integrate decision making process.
Provide expert direction on the appropriate approach ensuring proposed solutions are viable end-to-end, as much as possible, into the future
Collaborate with business units and leadership team to envision and deliver high quality innovative solutions that drive Careem’s vision for digital transformation and building an awesome organisation to work for.
The focus is on speed to value - defining, guiding, and implementing innovative solutions that will simplify and automate the workflows.
Identifying, evaluating, and implementing technology products, solutions and services to enhance IT capability in automation, e.
g. Automation Anywhere (RPA), ITOA (IT Operations Analytics), Assets Automation, and AI (Artificial Intelligence) to automate business processes.
Directly (hands-on) leading the building and running of a best-in-class automated infrastructure platform for the development, running and continuity of the company’s present and future enterprise operations.
Integration of all our tooling, hosting platforms and processes to converge to a reliable, single and consistent customer experience
Driving continuous improvement through structured Lean Sigma methodologies
Delivering technology solutions and assurance activity through applied agile methodologies
Driving standards and practices, improving, and innovating to stay ahead of the curve
Active and keen participant in the overall design and architecture of the digital services
Participate in Change Management Board
Participate in departmental planning and strategy sessions as required
Management of both internal and external resources
Conducting Service Reviews with internal teams and suppliers
Ensure operational metrics are measured, SLAs are met by the team and work towards improving on KPIs.
Hire, retain and lead a high-performing diverse group of engineering professionals, establishing clear objectives and key results, developing consistent set of practices and processes across the team and driving towards resolution of challenging problems.
This includes all performance management aspects of leading the engineers including acquiring and providing 360 feedback and administering reviews.
Manages solution ownership and development from initial concept through continuous improvement.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to ensure wider visibility and buy-in from the organisation.
What you'll need
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field experience.
Preferably certified in ITIL, COBIT, and TOGAF
Ability to work in a hyper-growth, innovative environment.
Can do and will do attitude with a proactive mindset.
Innovative, challenging thinking and an ability to anticipate future needs by keeping abreast of technical and industry trends.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
3 years of experience leading a technical team in a fast paced, global organization.
10 years of relevant technical experience in IT automation, innovation, engineering and supporting business critical technology solutions.
Track record of change and delivery, driving cost efficiencies through the use of technology
The candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas :
Emerging Technology : AI, RPA, Drones, Robotics, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT)
Industry recognized standard applications : SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, MS Dynamics 365, Workday
Transformational Enterprise Architectures : Integration, API’s, Containers, Microservices etc.
Enterprise cloud vendors : Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform
A confident and impactful communicator and manager of senior stakeholders, both written and verbal, able to clearly explain the programme to non-technical and technical audiences.
Where you'll be
This role is part of a remote distributed team! This means you can be based in any of the countries where we currently have an engineering site.
If you would like to join us in Dubai, Berlin, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon or Jordan, that's fine with us (Visa permitting)!
Even though we are working remotely, we are strong believers in collaboration and the power of building social connections with our teams.
For that reason, our offices are still open and provide plenty of collaboration-friendly spaces at times when teams need it or if you need a quiet space to work outside of home.
You’ll be working in the location you’re hired from. Due to legal and compensation considerations, you will need to be based out of the country you’re hired from as your primary work location.
