The Marketing and Communications department supports Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) in meeting the needs and expectations of its customers.

The Department’s scope of activities includes increasing awareness of Hospital services, accessibility by patients, signing agreements with corporations and insurance companies, facilitating corporate clients with their healthcare needs, national and international patient referrals, conducting patient satisfaction and demographic surveys, providing information and assistance to patients and visitors and developing linkages with community and referring physicians and overall management of the hospitals website.

Market intelligence reports and feasibility studies carried out on regular basis serves as a tool for developing strategic plans for enhancing services and implementing pricing models for the hospital.

Also responsible for Management Engineering function i.e. designs, implements and / or develops growth models, processes and systems by taking into account the engineering relationships between the management tasks of planning, organizing, leading and controlling and the human element in services, research and other academic facilities.

The department falls under hospital operations and reports to the Chief Executive Officer, AKUH, Karachi.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will be a visionary individual responsible for Marketing, Business Development, Strategic Planning and Corporate Communication strategies with prime focus on vision and mission of the organization.

  • Design, implement, and facilitate organization’s annual marketing plan along with continuous support, facilitation and implementation.
  • Represent the organization in press and other public forums in relation to marketing activities and negotiate with key stakeholder.
  • Develop Hospital and University growth scenarios; implement systems to manage rapid growth to provide more efficient medical care;
  • Plan and administer the strategic & operations budget of Marketing along with continuous support in development or regional marketing budgets.
  • Manage Market Research and Analysis; oversee patient satisfaction surveys, market intelligence studies and accessibility indices to gauge performance standards and consistently enhance the overall scope of marketing.
  • Administer marketing, communications and media plan, develop health education literature, approve press advertisements and organize health awareness programs in Pakistan and internationally.
  • Contribute efficiently to the design and development of publicity tools and marketing materials to support marketing across the organization.
  • Assist with and support hospitals involvement in various networks including coordinating business development and marketing activities via these relationships.
  • Oversee electronic marketing efforts including supervision of website design, continuous update and maintenance along with web marketing and social media.
  • Will keep abreast of the context of political and development issues of the world specifically of Pakistan affecting the organization.
  • Represent department with active participation in meeting with senior members of Hospital management.
  • Lead by example to influence behaviors, supervise team members and will be responsible for their development.
  • Maintain membership of Marketing Association of Pakistan (MAP) - Institutional Representative.
  • The requirements

  • MBA or equivalent business degree from a recognized university preferably in Business Administration or Marketing; MBBS degree will be an added advantage.
  • Possess a proven track record as a seasoned marketing professional with 7 to 10 years of progressive related experience.
  • Demonstrated success in driving results as well as recognized accomplishments as a leader.
  • Committed to the organization’s philosophy, goals, objectives and values, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and represent these to others.
  • Success in leading and managing professionals, support staff, and volunteers to help achieve short- and long-term goals and competencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work under pressure with patience and poise, and willingness to travel with and outside the country.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present at public platforms
  • Exceptional collaboration and time management abilities and outstanding communication and customer service skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare market.
