Within assigned authority, the Programme Coordinator (Terrorism Prevention) will provide substantive organizational coordination for the implementation of the Project "Support to Pakistan's Action to Counter Terrorism (PACT) with Special Reference to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh .
The incumbent will work on strategies, policies and programme activities pertaining to terrorism prevention, with a special focus on the planning, implementation, monitoring and self-evaluation of specialized services in criminal justice aspects of terrorism prevention, including promoting inter-agency coordination and collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
The incumbent will provide policy and programme coordination as well as management in addition to resource mobilization.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties :
Prepare related briefing notes and concept papers.
contribute to the monitoring of the budgetary and financial management of the activities for the assigned regions; plan and carry out steps for ensuring close liaison and coordination with donors and all other concerned actors.
participate in preparing specialized technical assistance delivery tools, such as manuals and guides.
participate in international, regional or national meetings and provide substantive expertise on specific issues.
Establish continuous dialogue with the stakeholders monitoring the relevant developments and undertaking the necessary adjustments.

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in counter terrorism, criminology, criminal justice, or related field is required.
A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional working experience in law enforcement and criminal justice is required.
Experience in crime prevention, criminal justice, law enforcement and / or project or programme management, is desirable.
Experience in corporate sustainability, especially as it relates to the collaboration between business and the United Nations system, or other similar large international organization, is desirable.
Experience working on resource mobilization is desirable.
Experience in coordinating with governments, regional offices and other stakeholders is desirable.
Experience working in the region is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of the local language is desirable.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency based interview.
This is a project post. Filling of this position is subject to funding availability and the initial appointment will be for a period of one year.
Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and / or the availability of the funds.
