The opportunity

  • The successful candidate can manage and develop timely resource deployment solutions for their local client base; manage the talent supply (workforce planning) and demand (manage flow of work for the small business group);
  • develop expertise and knowledge of professional staff skillsets and project requirements; analyse utilization data and deployment information and participate in developing and facilitating resource deployment strategies.

    Your key responsibilities

    As a Workforce Planner, you’ll assign appropriate client service personnel to engagements by accessing information presented, reviewing options available and presenting recommendations based on area policies and client requirements (complexity of engagement, continuity, expertise required, etc.

    Challenge hours and personnel scheduled as appropriate to ensure efficient utilization of resources.

  • Meet with Partners, Senior Managers and Managers to discuss staffing requirements for their clients, and to gain an understanding of specific engagement needs and deadlines.
  • Resolve conflicts with engagement team members to ensure appropriate solutions are identified in a timely manner.
  • Manage the annual planning process
  • Participate in performance management meetings for practice personnel
  • Build relationships and communicate continuously with client servers to identify personal schedule preferences and / or career development opportunities
  • Regularly communicate with People Leader, counselors and Talent Consultants regarding headcount activity and any performance issues surfaced by engagement teams.
  • Review actual and projected utilization, anticipate availability and proactively take action to minimize unassigned time while balancing the workloads of client servers.
  • Analyze Plan / Retain / Actual to assist in forecasting hours, tracking utilization and monitoring headcount. Raise issues identified to Resource Management leaders and People Leaders.
  • Appropriately prioritize staffing decisions based on engagement risk, specialization requirements, timing constraints, staffing continuity and geographic considerations.
  • Identify over and underutilized personnel; be proactive in identifying additional resources to bring utilization in line with their peers.
  • Negotiate with client-serving teams to shift time or create individual availability to meet staffing priorities for the office / area.
  • Skills and attributes for success

  • Very strong communication skills, both oral and written. The candidate needs to be fluent in English and French fluency would be an asset.
  • A key interest in resource management and driving best practices

    Strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Proficient at negotiation skills and conflict management
  • Strong client service focus responsive to requests maintains a sense of urgency in resolving issues
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexible in adapting to constantly changing priorities
  • Possess outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency - able to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills detail-oriented
  • To qualify for the role you must have

  • At least B.COM or CA-inter
  • A minimum of 1 year related experience. Experience in a resource management environment is desirable
