JOB DESCRIPTION

The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of the sand mining plan at National Park areas, APNP-AJK / MKKSNP-Punjab - Pakistan in the supervision of the Supervisor and in coordination with the Project Manager, Karot BMP Implementation Project Islamabad Programme Office.

The incumbent will also be responsible to inspect sand / gravel mining areas, issues licenses and provide training to relevant departments in collaboration with the Karot Power Company Limited and close Coordination with the Project Manager, Karot BMP Implementation Project Islamabad Programme Office IUCN Pakistan.

S / He will also be expected to collect data on sand / mining activities.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES :

Sand / Mining Related Tasks :

  • Implementation of the sand / gravel mining plan
  • Issue licenses for sand / gravel mining in designated locations on the river
  • Inspection of sand / gravel mining areas and enforcement of preventative measures against illegal sand / gravel mining
  • Collection of data about sand / gravel mining
  • Contribute to training programs for Forests, Fisheries, Wildlife departments, and community awareness programs
  • Report to Supervisor National Park Management Office and Project manager
  • Any other tasks that are assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
  • Networking and Representation :

  • Maintain coordination with Project Manager, Karot Hydro Power Project (Biodiversity Management Plan Implementation) Islamabad Programme Office.
  • Coordination with project stakeholders including government departments, communities, schools, NGOs etc
  • Other Functions :

  • Carry out any other relevant tasks as required by and mutually agreed with the line manager / supervisor(s). REQUIREMENTS
  • At least a Bachelors / Master’s degree in Finance / Business Administration or any other relevant degree from a recognized university.
  • Good at the application of MS Office and statistical packages like R, Python etc;
  • Physically fit for travelling / trekking in rugged mountain areas
  • Familiarity with the social, cultural, and geographical context of project area will be an asset
  • Aptitude for teamwork and fieldwork
  • Fair command of English (verbal / written) English, Urdu, and local languages of the project area with good communication skills
