    Organizational Setting

    These positions are located in FAO Project Office in Pishin, Pakistan. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural , fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

    Reporting Lines

    Under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Pakistan and in close coordination with Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), and direct supervision of the Project Officer.

    Technical Focus

  • Excellent knowledge of MS office is necessary.
  • Identification / formation of Community Organization (CBOs / COs) to take lead role, ownership and management of the rehabilitation / development activities in project areas
  • Training of CBOs, VOs, FFS, and FBS, enterprise / value chain groups and farmers associations in CMST (Community Managerial Skills Trainings) and LMST (Leadership Management Skills Trainings).
  • Facilitation in arrangement of capacity building and training of the CBOs / COs and beneficiaries in implementation and optimal utilization of resources provided by the project
  • Tasks and responsibilities

    Conduct consultative community meetings on project interventions

  • Identify potential project target villages as per defined criteria.
  • Identify existing COs / CBOs and initiate community dialogue for project orientation and need assessment Ensure equal participation of all community members in the meeting (male / female / children , minority and disabled)
  • Sensitize community about the project activities and its outcomes to ensure community interest and willingness.
  • Conduct PRA exercise for the need identification and prioritization in the project targeted villages;
  • Fill out the need assessment forms and submit to the project offices;
  • Conduct regular meeting with selected CO / CBOs and provide project support according to the assessed livelihoods needs related to agriculture
  • Assist the farming communities to form new farmers groups and to further strengthen the operation & function of existing community farmer groups / organizations / water user associations WUAs

  • Facilitate FFS facilitators in identifying potential participants for Farmer Field Schools (FFS) farmer groups / WUAs in targeted villages.
  • Form farmer groups / WUAs with village cooperation including female participation at all levels.
  • Register all members in hard and soft prescribed templates.
  • Arrange & organize consultative meetings with farmer groups on their roles and responsibilities
  • Ensure documentation of all related activities in soft & hard

  • Develop and maintain all the activity documents in soft and hard.
  • Maintain documentation files of the activities respective tagged folders.
  • Submission of work plans and activity reports

  • Ensure timely submission of weekly / monthly work plans
  • Develop & submit fortnightly work plans & daily activity reports.
  • Mobilize the community about the project inputs and its importance in their development to create ownership

  • Assist during the distributions of project inputs for all the components.
  • Maintain record of distributions of project inputs for all the components.
  • Ensure the proper distribution of project inputs at all levels.
  • Handle beneficiaries / stakeholders complaints

  • Provide full cooperation and support to team handling project related complaints if any.
  • Any other assignments

  • Help the team to organise and run the capacity building programmes in project area
  • Work for community resolutions regarding various issues / interventions in the project villages;
  • Organise awareness and visibility campaigns in the project villages.
  • Any other duty or task as assigned under the project
  • CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in Social Sciences preferably in Agriculture, Sociology, Communication or Rural Development.
  • Minimum 03 years progressively responsible experience in social mobilisation / community mobilization / rural development, preferably in an international organisation or UN agency.
  • Working knowledge of English and ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams is essential.

  • Excellent report writing skills and strong Communication skills.
  • Good understanding and hands-on experience with SMP in development programmes and projects.

  • Proactive and innovative with the ability to deliver results within tight deadlines.
  • Extensive experience in community mobilization and community lead livelihood enhancement activities.
  • Selection Criteria Candidates will be assessed against the requirements listed above.
