Job Description

Duties would include but are not limited to the following :

  • To monitor, maintain and improve pharmacy operations to ensure safe preparation, supplies, proper storage and distribution of medicines.
  • Pharmacist will work in conjunction with staff to solve operational and professional issues to achieve departmental goals and patient needs in timely manner.
  • Pharmacist will also be responsible for contributing in quality initiatives and patient centered projects.
  • Clinical Services

    Medicine supply to patient :

  • Assess the urgency and severity of presenting problems and provide medicines as per need of the patient prescribed by the physician or consultant.
  • Provide hygiene consumable items in accordance with the need of patient.
  • Ability to interpret and understand prescriptions, formularies, drug pharmacological actions and consult and communicate with other healthcare professionals as required.
  • Provide drug and poison management information to healthcare staff and patients.
  • Timely refill running and accurately checking it with ensuring timely delivery.
  • Maintains strict control over distribution and usage of controlled drugs, such as narcotics.
  • Monthly floor stock inspection for proper storage of drugs and near expiry drug replacement.
  • Provide training to trainee pharmacists and novice staff in pharmacy.
  • Accurate and timely completion of expiry drug list on monthly basis (current and 3 months)
  • Extemporaneous compounding, booking and preparation.
  • Preparation of cytotoxic drug, TPN solution and ensure timely delivery" (if assigned).
  • Preparation of bulk compounding and record keeping.
  • Compliance :

  • Ensure all patient services undertaken are charged out in accordance with appropriate protocols
  • Invoicing and Dispensing :

  • All invoices should be generated through HMIS and the invoices should be stamped BHCS, Paid before handed over to the patient / customer.
  • Provide patient counselling while OPD prescription dispensing and cash handling (outpatient) e Processing of e-pharmacy orders and their dispensing (outpatient)
  • IT System Management

    Accuracy of information :

  • All information you enter into the HMIS should be accurate, appropriate and in accordance with agreed protocols and must maintain all the records of sale and purchase of the stock
  • External :

  • Professional liaison with other health professionals in BHCS is maintained
  • Internal :

  • All staff are informed, as appropriate, about anything that they should be aware of regarding a patient, or regarding the internal workings of the practice
  • Staff and team meetings are attended as requested
  • All staff problems or issues are referred to the pharmacist in first instance
  • Audit :

  • Participation in clinical audit as clinical or administrative indication. Participate in quality improvement systems
  • Complaints :

  • All complaints to be referred to the Facility Manager / pharmacist in the first instance. If unresolved then you are expected to co-operate with other resolution methods by CCS / Admin
  • Privacy Act :

  • Total confidentiality and privacy of patients is maintained
  • Health & Safety :

  • Comply with health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances
  • Other Duties :

  • Hours of work are set out in the Employment Agreement, however there may be times when you are required to undertake other duties outside of these hours as requested.
  • This may involve attendance at meetings, staff meetings or training sessions

    Candela Training :

  • Invoicing shall not start before the HMIS training and command
  • Cleanliness :

  • Ensure pharmacy is always well arranged and clean
  • Inventory Management :

    Support Chief Pharmacist with all inventory through counting drugs plus supplies


    Graduate in Pharmacy / Doctor of pharmacy Registered with Pharmacy Council of Pakistan

    Experience : 1 - 2 years of experience in healthcare setup preferably in Joint Commission International Accredited (JCIA) Hospital
