About the team

Careem's Internal Audit function has recently been established and is currently looking to grow and expand its team with the right talent.

The function is responsible for auditing all entities in the group across all of Careem's 13 markets.

  • This position is based out of Karachi
  • What you'll do

  • Review and test the control environment to ensure : the reliability of financial reporting; safeguarding of company assets;
  • compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and the efficiency and effectiveness of company operations.

  • Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with corporate policies and procedures, including assessing reliability of information used in control performance.
  • Participate in all stages of audits including audit planning, fieldwork and reporting.
  • Prepare audit programs and workpapers in accordance with Internal Audit standards.
  • Complete all working papers and ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation to support all audit findings.
  • Prepare draft audit reports for review by Internal Audit Manager / Senior Manager.
  • Present findings to management in writing (audit reports) and verbally.
  • Assist in identifying audit issues and root causes, recommend improved internal controls and business processes, and ensure that corrective action plans are developed and implemented by management.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects as per agreed timelines and as per approved budgets.
  • Extract and analyze data sets whenever required (e.g. to perform audit planning, sampling, testing, or to evaluate observations).
  • Assist Internal Audit Manager / Senior Manager in special projects as required
  • Follow up with the business with regards to agreed mitigation plans.
  • What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business or Accounting / Professional qualification such as CIA or CISA or CA / CPA
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Internal Audit (preferably in big 4 firms or in the Technology Industry).
  • Excellent data analytics skills including SQL proficiency. Experience using R or Python for analytics is an advantage.
  • Hands on experience in MS Office or G-Suite & other Productivity Tools e.g. ASANA, LUCID / Visio.
  • Knowledge of internal audit practices (i.e. IPPF framework)
  • Skilled in risk and internal control assessment.
  • Knowledge of risk based audit techniques.
  • Excellent verbal, report writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to be hands-on and work independently and in teams
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills
