The Division :

The Perseus Operating Group, a division of Constellation Software (TSX : CSU), is seeking an energetic, independent and experienced Accounting Team Supervisor to join our Contour office.

The individual will split their time between managing a team of approximately 25 resources and providing finance support to one of our businesses.

Team management responsibilities will include coaching and mentoring staff through routine 1 on 1 meetings, assisting with hiring and performance management, managing the ratings process, provide regular training and development and liaison with onshore managers.

Further, the individual will be expected to assist with compensation decisions and therefore will need to understand and communicate local market trends to senior management.

To effectively manage and lead the team, it is imperative that this individual spend a portion of their time in a Financial Analyst capacity working and supporting one of our businesses.

This will allow the individual to learn our business, best practices, financial processes, systems and expectations placed on staff.

  • Core Responsibilities :

  • Manage a team of approximately 25 individuals
  • Liaison with onshore managers and senior management and be a local escalation point for staffing issues and areas for development
  • Coach and mentor staff through routine 1 on 1 meetings,
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding , monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that the proper tools are in place to support the team and the processes.
  • Manage the ratings process; ensure ratings are completed timely and include constructive feedback
  • Provide regular training and development for employees; pro-actively identify areas for development
  • Assist with compensation decisions and therefore will need to understand and communicate local market trends to senior management
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze staff turnover
  • Share best practices and Assist in write-ups of new policies and process documents
  • Provide feedback on Staff Utilization to onshore managers.
  • Other Duties as Assigned :

  • Provide Financial Analyst support to one of our Business Units.
  • Support the Corporate Head Office with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance of accounting policies with International Financial Reporting Standards and assist with the research and documentation of IFRS technical accounting issues.
  • Assist internal and external auditors with documentation requests.
  • Evaluate systems and procedures for optimization and automated reporting
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis as required by Management.
  • Education and Technical Skills :

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience from public accounting or a similar corporate finance / accounting environment demonstrating a knowledge of accounting guidance and methodology.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing large, high performance teams
  • ACCA or equivalent accounting designation, strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including sophisticated Excel workbooks and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with accounting technology including automated solutions and ERP's for general ledgers.
  • Experience with Great Plains, preferred
  • Experience with Iron Mountain, ReQlogic, banking applications or other similar programs is a plus.
  • A thorough understanding of accounting guidance, including Revenue Recognition and acquisition accounting is a plus.
  • Ability to manage, develop and implement best practices.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute the month-end close schedule, including timeline development and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
