MSI is seeking a data analyst to be part of a team that will monitor the project activities of the USAID-funded Youth Monitoring Project (YEP).

UNDP is the implementing partner (IP) of the project, providing technical training through selected partners to out of work youth to prepare them for employment in the garment industry.

The project also provides on the job training for employees working in the garment sector as well as job placement services for the trained out of work youth.

The monitoring will be carried out through site visits, and individual and group interviews with training participants, employers, and training institution representatives in Karachi.

The data analyst will be responsible for the analysis of the data collected through monitoring visits and key informant and group interviews.

The estimated duration of the second phase of the assignment is approximately seven months, from July 2018 through January 2019.

Residents of Karachi are preferred for this position.


  • Support document review relevant to the project.
  • Participate fully in the team planning workshop and data rehearsal sessions.
  • Contribute in the development of data collection instruments, a data collection plan, and a data analysis plan.
  • Coordinate with PERFORM administration team to manage field logistics; Ensure compliance with MSI / Perform administrative procedures.
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews with assigned respondents.
  • Participate in an orientation and training session in Karachi to understand the purpose of the monitoring and familiarize with the data collection instruments, data collection and analysis plans.
  • Participate fully in qualitative and quantitative data processing and analysis.
  • Contribute to presenting findings and conclusions of the research to USAID and its implementing partners.
  • Provide inputs in preparing the research report, if required.
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by MSI PERFORM.
  • Qualifications

  • At least a masters’ degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years of professional experience.
  • Previous experience of working with USAID is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent English and Urdu writing skills.
  • Fluency in a third language spoken in Karachi.
  • In-depth understanding and skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Expert knowledge working with Excel, SPSS or STATA, and qualitative analysis tools
  • Position will be filled on a rolling basis*
