Smith and Nephew is looking for a multifaceted individual who is looking to advance their career as a Test Manager. The position requires a person who is passionate about working in a medical device company using a variety of outstanding software, gaming technologies, Amazon Web Services, Biometric Systems, and more.
This role is responsible for leading system testing and troubleshooting of our company applications to ensure quality and compliance of new and existing software developments and hardware integration.
This individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining and executing the system test strategy. You will create test plans for new software development and regression testing and specify and develop automated test applications.
You will be leading internal and external teams throughout the software development lifecycle to verify and validate the software implementation.
Lead test groups to test and troubleshoot new software development, enhancements and existing functionality.
Define and handle development of automated test software.
Ensure compliance to corporate and regulatory standards and requirements.
Analyze and document defects, providing sufficient explanation on defects and impacts.
Develop matrix to measure testing effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
Establish, improve and / or refine quality assurance processes to ensure efficiencies and accuracies in our testing
Implementation of a workflow standard for the full project life-cycle.
Mentoring and providing guidance to QA Team
Negotiate defect prioritization to implement high quality technical solutions
We are also open to someone based out of San Diego, CA
BS degree Computer Science or Engineering preferred
5 to 10 yrs of software testing experience
Knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
Direct experience as a tester for major application integration and major application product release.
Direct experience with manual and automated testing tools.
Some hardware testing experience
Experience writing test plans, test cases, conducting manual tests and using / creating automations / or tools
Medical device experience is helpful
Detail oriented and a problem solver
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment
Strong collaboration skills
Have knowledge of testing strategies / methodologies that can be applied in websites and web application testing.
Comprehends the full scope of a web application or website to develop applicable and comprehensive testing procedures.
Provides feedback on cause and effect of bugs and errors in a given test situation.
Provides clear and concise feedback on bugs, usability and other test findings / results.
Distinguishes between user error and actual application bugs.
Defines project expectations and timelines for work to fellow team members.
Experience with building and executing system performance, application security tests and various functional tests
