Cloud Network Engineer

About the Role :

The Cloud Network Engineer is a role with strong focus and experience on both traditional on-prem networking and Cloud networking (AWS / Azure), as well as SDWAN.

The Cloud Network Engineer is responsible for creating and deploying infrastructure as code in the cloud, as well as designing and implementing networking architectures on-prem, utilizing industry best practices, optimizing cost, and keeping security at the forefront.

This position is part of the Network Team and reports to the SVP of Infrastructure Services Network. This role interacts closely with IT architects, engineering groups, system admins, application support, and development groups worldwide.

Job Duties in Brief

The main responsibilities of this position are :

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code practices with focus on Networking.
  • Design cloud network architecture to match the requirements of a security conscious, high standards financial services firm.
  • Build cloud infrastructure topology and environments, by means of automation (AWS Cloud Formation, Azure ARM templates, pipelines, etc).
  • Strong familiarity with SDWAN.
  • Implement the tools required to manage, monitor, and to obtain visibility of the network infrastructure in the cloud.
  • Integrate existing on-prem network infrastructure with the cloud environments.
  • Elevate the skills of the Network Team in the area of cloud networking.
  • Level 2 and level 3 support of the global network infrastructure (WAN and LAN at the datacenters and at the remote offices worldwide), and our cloud based networks.
  • Keep informed on new developments and products in our technology area and recommend implementation of new solutions as appropriate.
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation.
  • About You

    The successful candidate is an experienced and energetic contributor, with the ability to build Customer relationships, while driving alignment and strategy in the Customer Support IT group.

    You can impact both day-to-day service delivery and Customer Support management and long-term structural group alignment and strategy definition.

    Mature communicator, with the ability to effectively convey information of a technical nature to non-technical audiences.

    Experience and Technical Skills

    Must haves - Strong knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in the following areas and technologies

  • Experience with AWS and Azure Networking.
  • Experience implementing AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, IPsec VPN Connections from cloud to on-prem datacenters.
  • Experience writing and deploying AWS cloud formation and Azure ARM templates.
  • Scripting and programming skills (json, yaml, python, javascript, powershell, etc).
  • SDWAN experience, deploying, managing, monitoring in particular Vmware Velocloud.
  • Strong with Cisco routing / switching infrastructure.
  • Strong with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.
  • At least 10 years of experience in network engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience in cloud networking.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of OSPF (multi-area environment), BGP v4.
  • IPsec site-to-site VPNs, remote access VPNs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ITIL and Change Management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem management skills.
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with industry and local government standards.
  • Other helpful skills

  • Experience analyzing packet captures (with Wireshark, etc).
  • Experience deploying and administering F5 BigIP load balancers.
  • Clear understanding of network monitoring systems (Cacti, Solarwinds).
  • Experience analyzing flows using Netflow collectors.
  • QOS configuration for the enablement of IP telephony, video conferencing, and other real time protocols (e.g. VDI PCoIP).
  • Operational knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Additional scripting (bash, perl, etc),
  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree or technical qualification prevalent to the position.
