Job summary

Amazon has come a long way since opening on the World Wide Web in July 1995. Today, we operate retail websites in multiple countries across geographies, offering products in many categories (books, media, digital, electronics etc.

worldwide, and we still like to work hard, have fun and make history! The Amazon brand has become synonymous with a superior level of convenience, selection, low prices, and customer service.

We are looking for people that are self-driven, able to deal with ambiguity, passionate about innovating, working on challenging highly scalable distributed systems problems, and motivated to learn about a broad set of technologies.

Being a team player is a must. You want to make those around you better, participate in designing new software, complete code reviews, and ship code.

Who are we? The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) group builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of Fulfillment Centers that move many millions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them.

We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well.

AFT Automation Infrastructure (AI) is a subgroup within AFT that builds and maintains core platforms and services in Amazon Fulfillment Centers.

If you've ever bought something from Amazon, there's a very good chance our software was directly involved in getting it to you.

Automation is happening, and with it comes complexity. We need a Program Manager to help us expand a core Automation Infrastructure portfolio at the very heart of Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) and play a pivotal role in managing projects and process improvement initiatives to drive down costs, improve speed, and set up mechanisms to ensure cost savings.

We are committed to building a powerful IoT solution using AWS technologies such as Greengrass, Lambdas etc. to seamlessly interact with tens of thousands of devices that are present in Amazon warehouses and break dependencies which act as single point of failures and enables entire fulfillment services to be resilient to a single AWS region failures or critical service outages.

As the Internet of Things continues to grow and millions of devices get connected, compute is moving from the cloud to the edge as we harness the data generated thru IoT edge devices and enable them to act intelligently in a secure, high throughput, low latency environment with intermittent or no network connectivity.

Given the breadth of the service we are building, this role will require coordination across many internal and external teams and will be visible at the highest levels of the company.

You will work with our customers, partners, software vendors, and operational stakeholders to prioritize roadmap features, and write business requirements documents.

We are highly motivated, collaborative and fun-loving with an entrepreneurial spirit and bias for action. With a broad mandate to experiment and innovate, we are growing at an unprecedented rate with a seemingly endless range of new opportunities.

As a member of this team, you will get the opportunity to own and manage highly visible, innovative projects that directly impact the customer experience.

This position has great opportunity for growth as Amazon increasingly automates its Fulfillment Center operations.
