Damco has a very exciting portfolio of accounts within the Chemical / Petro-Chemical sector, and will be growing and developing this area.

As a result, we are looking for a Key Account Manager who will be responsible to retain & grow our key accounts within this sector.

Whilst the majority of time will be spent on developing existing accounts, there will also be pursuit activities either individually or in a support role.

The position has to create an environment of innovation and rapid response to client’s needs based on a deep awareness of their business from both a tactical and strategic perspective.

A key responsibility of the role will be to build upon existing key relationships and establish new relationships where required with all major decision makers / stakeholders.

The ability to manage internal stake-holders globally within Damco will also be important to the success of the candidate.

The ability to gain a deep understanding of the customer supply chain, and then create and implement a roadmap for howDamco can develop our role within the customer will be key to success in the role.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure commercial targets for the group of customers are met including retention and additional business development
  • Create and develop detailed pursuit plans
  • Manage relationships with all key customer contacts
  • Play a leading role in implementation of solution and new opportunities
  • Acts as an escalation point for operational issues
  • Establish and set up KPIs / Reports for sharing with internal and external parties
  • Regular formal reviews with customer
  • Manage outstanding / overdue levels with customer
  • Support customer were required on logistics / supply chain projects
  • Identify & drive operational improvements / changes
  • Prioritizes Open Issue List for on-time resolution so that customer service is not hampered
  • Budget / Target setting for the portfolio of Key Accounts
  • Key Performance Indicators

  • Delivering required gross profit margins / volume targets
  • Retention of existing business through Contract Renewal
  • Growth of business with existing Key Accounts and securing New Accounts
  • Customer Satisfaction Survey score
  • External KPI’s Meeting client KPI Objectives
  • Education :

  • Bachelors degree or Master’s degree from recognized university
  • Experience :

  • Minimum 6 yrs experience within Supply chain and Logistics
  • Proven successful Sales / Commercial experience
  • Relevant industry knowledge of Chemical / PetroChemical / Polymer business
  • Experience with both Freight Forwarding (Air, Ocean, Trucking, Customs Clearance) and Supply Chain Management
  • Strong relationships in the local market, proven through past performance, would be highly advantageous
  • Experience of Damco’s SCM product and / or solution selling would be advantageous
  • Supply Chain Development / Optimisation experience
  • Passion for service delivery and cost effectiveness and for identifying how to constantly improve
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with stakeholders at various levels of seniority and across multiple cultures
  • Be able to work independently. Self-motivated and objective oriented person
