Job Description

Their duties would include but are not limited to the following :

  • Pharmacy assistants and technicians are responsible for handling clerical functions in the pharmacy as well as assisting the licensed pharmacist in selling and preparing medication to patients.
  • The job duties of a pharmacy assistant include operating the cash register, handling money transactions.
  • Patients should feel that they have been dealt with in a professional, friendly and courteous manner
  • Rotate stock, move older medication to front shelf used prior to expiration date
  • Clinical Services

    Medicine supply to patient :

  • Assess the urgency and severity of presenting problems and provide medicines as per need of the patient prescribed by the physician or consultant.
  • Also provide hygiene consumable items in accordance with the need of patient. Compile everyday statistics like number of patients asking for prescriptions, new received prescriptions and refill orders number
  • Financial

  • Compliance : Ensure all patient services undertaken are charged out in accordance with appropriate protocols.
  • Invoicing : All invoices should be generated through the software currently in use (Candela) and the invoices should be stamped BHCS, Paid before handed over to the patient / customer and all the invoices must be maintained in excel sheet.
  • IT System Management

    Accuracy of information : All information you enter into the HMIS should be accurate, appropriate and in accordance with agreed protocols and must maintain all the records of sale and purchase of the stock.

    Communication

  • External : Professional liaison with other health professionals in BHCS is maintained.
  • Internal : All staff are informed, as appropriate, about anything that they should be aware of regarding a patient, or regarding the internal workings of the practice.
  • Staff and team meetings are attended as requested.

    Staff problems or issues : All staff problems or issues are referred to the pharmacist in first instance.

    Audit : Participation in clinical audit as clinical or administrative indication. Participate in quality improvement systems.

    Complaints : All complaints to be referred to the Facility Manager / pharmacist in the first instance. If unresolved then you are expected to co-operate with other resolution methods by CCS / Admin.

    Privacy Act : Total confidentiality and privacy of patients is maintained.

    Health & Safety : Comply with health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances.

    Other Duties : Hours of work are set out in the Employment Agreement, however there may be times when you are required to undertake other duties outside of these hours as requested.

    This may involve attendance at meetings, staff meetings or training sessions.

    Candela Training : Invoicing shall not start before the Candela Training and command.

    Cleanliness : Ensure pharmacy is always well arranged and clean

    Inventory Management : Support Chief Pharmacist with all inventory through counting drugs plus supplies.

    Qualifications

    Preferably Graduation or Intermediate

    Experience : 2 - 3 years of work experience in a hospital pharmacy as a pharmacy salesman
