Main Purpose of the Job
The Data Analyst will be responsible for supporting AAN’s Programs Management Unit (PMU) with the aggregation, reporting, and analysis of the projects’ datasets.
This position requires a combination of analytical and interpersonal skills, as the ideal candidate will have the ability to both perform rigorous analyses and deliver these results to a non-technical audience.
The selected candidate may also play a role in supporting our Report Writers.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Ability to use as many of the following tools as possible for Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis STATA, SPSS, R, ECONO, NVivo, MaxQDA and others ;
Possess an understanding of sampling approaches (such as Simple random, Systematic, Stratified, Clustered, Convenience, Quota, Judgement (or Purposive), Snowball sampling);
Support Project delivery teams in Tools Development;
Support Project delivery teams in the development of Research Design, Data Collection Tools and Data Analysis;
Understanding of tabulation plans, and relevant data entry modules / sheets including guidelines for field application (including overseeing the pre-testing and finalization);
Ability to develop and deliver training of field teams on data collection, editing, cleaning, entry and processing, including guidance on ethical and quality assurance;
Able to contribute to and manage data collection exercises through real time data collection applications / devices e.g.
android or device-based data collection and perform real time quality checks to ensure compliance and quality;
Oversee and lead the data management / database management for the data collected in field missions;
Oversee / lead quantitative and quantitative data analysis and interpretation (including data triangulation) using specialized software’s for data analysis e.
g., STATA, SPSS, R, ECONO, Business Intelligence (BI), NVivo etc.;
Extend support to the relevant project teams in data analysis, interpretation and reporting and addressing clients’ feedback on data analysis and interpretation (during report finalization);
At least sixteen (16) years of education, preferably a degree in Social Sciences from a reputable / recognized university
Over five (5) years of experience using statistical software, working with complex datasets, in a professional or institutional setting
Possess an in-depth understanding of sampling approaches (such as Simple Random, Systematic, Stratified, Clustered, Convenience, Quota, Judgement or Purposive, and Snowball sampling)
Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Experience working in teams and collaborating on projects.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required
Should be extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly-organized, resourceful, and reliable.
