About the team

Careem Pay is both a critical enabler of Careem’s Super App vision and a business with massive potential outside the existing Careem ecosystem.

Careem Pay’s purpose is to empower people to lead better lives by simplifying their payment experiences and access to financial services.

Its vision is to become the leading digital financial services platform of the region serving consumers, partners and merchants.

As an early-stage start-up within Careem, it is looking to build a team of energised, start- up-minded and ambitious colleagues who are super excited about the fintech opportunity in the region.

Pakistan is a critical market for Careem Pay, considering it to be the most populus country in Careem’s foot print.

What you'll do

As Commercial and Partnerships Senior Manager, you will be responsible for

  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategy and launch plans for Careem Pay products and features in Pakistan
  • Build and understand in-depth knowledge of the Pakistan’s fintech and financial services ecosystem to drive Careem Pay strategy in the market.
  • Spearheading the local regulatory & private sector partnerships inline with the strategy
  • Executing local partnership engagement to Identify and implement required integrations across the regulatory, financial services, financial infrastructure, and fintech ecosystems, including Raast, 1link, 1bill, Nadra, processors and partner banks.
  • Working closely with the Central Partnership’s team in ensuring local partnerships are aligned with overall Careem Pay’s strategy and product roadmap
  • Build and own operational relationships with external partners (including Banks, Schemes and Fintechs) and Careem Pay teams including, Engineering, Product, Risk, Compliance and others to enable our products to succeed in the market
  • Develop and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery against milestones
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders including senior management
  • Identify inefficiencies in the operating model with partners and propose, scope, and drive process improvements
  • Build and lead a fast-moving, bold, and highly hands-on, partnerships team
  • What you'll need

  • Top-tier educational background and at least 5 years of partner / program management and / or business operations experience at Banks, Schemes or Fintechs
  • Strong knowledge of payments value chain (both Issuing & acceptance, fund transfers and bill payments), business models, players and industry trends
  • Super strong project management expertise with proven ability to successfully drive medium- to large-sized projects
  • Proven ability to independently engage with cross-functional internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Self-starter with high level of ownership and limited need for oversight and support

  • Willing to get hands dirty this role involve both strategy and implementation
  • Willing to take risks and make quick, informed judgment calls
