Serve as a technical lead to develop transmission and sub-transmission technical solutions and modernization initiatives to improve reliability, operations, and integration of renewable resources for the electric sector.
Oversee planning and interconnection studies and recommend solutions for renewable generation integration onto the transmission and sub-transmission grid.
Build relationships with local utility planners, system operators, renewable plant developers, study consultants and local operators in the field.
Lead, perform or collaborate in power systems analyses pertaining to transmission and sub-transmission system expansion, voltage stability, reliability, power quality analysis, etc.
and derive technical solutions.
Lead technical and economic analyses that incorporate the effect of transmission and sub-transmission investments, including, for example, estimation of avoided transmission and sub-transmission costs associated with distributed energy resources.
Manage small technical team for the analysis, development and delivery of project deliverables.
Coordinate transmission related activities with other technical components such as generation and distribution to ensure a unified implementation approach and promote private sector engagement.
Essential KSA's Required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.) :
Advanced degree in engineering, energy policy, energy operations, or business.
15 years of experience in electricity sector transmission operations and at least eight years of renewable energy integration experience.
Advanced knowledge of the utility business and a thorough understanding of concepts and systems related to transmission and distribution in developing nations, preferably on USAID-funded projects.
Advance knowledge and understanding of power sector planning criteria, standards, and guidelines.
Knowledge of energy sector environmental issues, emissions mitigation or reduction, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and infrastructure resiliency.
Experience managing complex power sector related activities and teams, and / or energy sector development and reform activities.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team member, maintaining project timelines and budgets, and delivering on commitments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing, report writing, and other technical writing.
Must be able to proficiently communicate in writing and verbally in English.
Valued but not required KSAs :
Prior experience working on or leading USAID energy sector reform projects.
