Job Purpose

The IT Deployment & Service Lead role will be site based and will provide technical analysis and development of solutions in support of the Manufacturing processes and will manage the deployment, testing, validation, performance, operations and continuous support and improvement of all Technical, Engineering and Manufacturing applications within each Manufacturing Excellence and Quality and Lab Product team.

This role requires a balance of business process understanding and technical breadth and an ability to operate in a flexible and agile way to drive efficiency and improvements to the Manufacturing, Technical, Engineering and Quality and Lab Products.

Education & Experience Areas

MA / MSc degree in Engineering / Software / IT or relevant technical topic

Experience of application management, operations, and / or support including knowledge and experience of Incident, Problem and Change Management

Understanding of components of the Enterprise Architecture & ability to identify innovative ways to leverage architecture to add value to GSK

Strong conceptual thinking, modelling, analytical and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills

Strong relationship building, team working and influencing skills

High learning agility - ability to learn and adapt to new concepts, systems, and software independently and quickly

Experience in a manufacturing environment with a good understanding of manufacturing principles and practices.

Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle

Good communications in English, sufficiency to build and maintain organizational support

Experience in support and / or development of IT systems

Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to plan own work to meet objectives, and to work independently.

Experience in working with relational Databases (e.g. SQL Server or Oracle) and the ability to develop SQL queries

Knowledge of MS Windows Operating Systems, MS SQL Server Databases

Product Focused

Partner with the Product Manager(s) to develop, test, deploy & maintain technology and / or solutions to enable business value for GSK, operating within an Agile Product Model and DevOps principles.

Responsible for the day-to-day operations within an Agile Product DevOps model, which includes but is not limited to :

Business process to system mapping and user requirements capture

Application and technology design & implementation e.g. automation tools, testing tools etc.

UX Design & application of Design Thinking methods

Information / data flow design & implementation

Application integration selection / design & implementation

IT service to support end-to-end business processes

Financial evaluation e.g. Total cost of ownership calculations

Development, maintenance and management of products and solutions, including the identification of gaps, risks and mitigation approaches

Engage with internal functions and external bodies (companies, standards bodies and agencies) to understand the wider ecosystem that impacts the Product area.

Collaborate with Portfolio & Product ensure solutions align agreed product roadmap & feature requirements

Engage with key stakeholders and end users to ensure best possible User Experience (UX) and business outcomes are achieved, escalating issues as appropriate

Provide technical leadership in support of service delivery and lifecycle management, to optimise the Product portfolio and ensure that systems continue to operate and evolve in line with the Product Roadmap, wider Tech environment and key standards

Track exceptions to standards and drive their remediation

Business Partnering Focused :

Manages operational issues across site(s) or node(s) in the Supply Chain

Engages with site tiered accountability process; and participate in Tech Performance Management processes

Provision of 1st line support for Manufacturing Excellence Products

Management of Site product instance monitoring & backlog requests (demand profile)

Drives service optimisation for Manufacturing products at a site level

Management of local manufacturing / quality partnerships (own & manage elements of Risk, Quality and Compliance management)

Identification of value and improvement opportunities (understands the products to maximise the value created through those applications for site and ensures effective use of them)

Leads feature release co-ordination / installation

Leads Site product instance configuration and deployment, enable continuous deployments and improvements

Controls Lifecycle Management for services owned by Site Tech

Leads Site / Supply chain aspects of archiving and decommissioning activities for systems that have reached the end of their lifecycle

Leads in troubleshooting of applications across multiple technology domains, products and business areas.

Provides Technical’ and Business awareness’ support to the Site Tech team to enable the appropriate definition and priorities of Tech Systems for the Site
