Keep track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding debts and plan course of action to recover.
Locate and contact debtors to inquire and negotiate payoff deadlines of their payment status.
Comply with requirements when legal action is unavoidable.
Develop and maintain a tracking system of incoming and late payments.
Inform upper management and leaders when legal action is needed.
Works with coworkers to set debt collection strategies.
Keeps detailed notes and records of all communications and actions.
Investigates billing errors and disputes and follows up with customers.
Uses debt collection software and update accordingly.
Complies with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as company policies.
Bachelor Degree (or equivalent).
1-3 years’ of relevant experience as collector.
Knowledge of relevant legal requirements
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
