We are seeking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic nurse to join us as Infection Control Officer. You will have a key role to prevent and control healthcare associated infections.
You will therefore need to have excellent communication skills and a proven ability to promote best practice at all levels across care boundaries.
The successful post holder will also be required to work collaboratively with colleagues whilst managing their own workload, supported by other members of the team.
As post holder, you are responsible for the tasks such as but not limited to the following :
Development of up to date infection prevention and control policies, overseeing their implementation into practice
Ensure and supervise the maintenance of a high quality service and a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors
To set up and establish education and training initiatives to ensure that all hospital personnel have access to appropriate training in infection prevention and control practice
To be aware of current trends and research findings relating to infection prevention and control in clinical practice and support services and to ensure that relevant developments are communicated to the appropriate staff
Assist the hospital in selecting the most effective and most cost-efficient antiseptics, disinfectants, sterilization methods, waste disposal method, other infection control related products and laundry system
The identification, management and control of outbreaks of healthcare associated infection and be responsible for the effective communication to patients, staff or visitors of the agreed outbreak / risk action plan
Organizing studies or trials of new techniques, supplies and equipment
Contribute to collation of evidence and results, evaluate and deliver formal reports both in verbal and written format
Leads on the assessment and identification of training needs in infection control and the prevention of healthcare associated infection
Facilitate effective communication, give daily practical support to all staff and departments
Ability to balance the demands of both the proactive and reactive elements of the infection control service; financial constraints;
service requirements; national, local or professional standards; responding to national consultation, guidance or legislative policy
BSN qualified along with professional Certification in a relevant field
Experience : Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in a Hospital
Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
Excellent understanding of Infection Prevention & Control
