Individual Contributor Reporting to Director, Technology Enablement, Digital Workplace

Key Roles / Responsibilities :

This position requires a diverse background in application architecture and development. It will support the Digital Workplace, Technology Enablement team in the development and maturation of its corporate data warehouse and reporting platform.

The principal focus areas will include data lake architecture and optimization, API development, key business process automations, application integrations, and opportunities to learn / utilize machine learning techniques.

Your role as the lead architect will be multifaceted. You will :

  • Provide architectural guidance for the maturation of the data warehouse including both the reliability and performance of the platform.
  • Utilize a thorough understanding of the business’ data requirements reporting purpose, life cycle, limitations, etc. for the purposes designing reliable and scalable harvesting and analytical constructs.
  • As a member of the development team you will contribute to the development of the platform and its day-to-day support.
  • The technologies and skills employed will vary but, at a minimum, will include extensive use of AWS serverless architecture patterns (e.

    g., Lambda, Athena, and Fargate), Docker, Informatica, Python, Terraform, and development against third-party APIs. Candidates need not be familiar with all of these technologies.

    However, demonstrable exposure to some will be beneficial.

    The position requires

  • Working as a senior member of a scrum-based software engineering team
  • Working with a diverse suite of technologies
  • Providing sound / scalable architectural recommendations
  • Creating resilient applications dependent upon external APIs
  • Contributing to the testing and CI / CD maturity of the platform
  • Partnering with business stakeholders to understand their analytical needs and design sound, scalable, and technical solutions to meet them.
  • Evaluating vendor solutions and third-party tools for fit
  • Writing / Evaluating technical and functional requirements.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience
  • 8-10 years’ experience in n-tiered application development
  • Demonstrable knowledge of application design / architecture (e.g., design patterns, dependency injection, DevOps principals, CI / CD, etc.)
  • Experience working with a modern programming language - Python preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrable experience working in Unix environments
  • Demonstrable experience working with AWS (beyond EC2s e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, etc.)
  • Experience piloting and driving new technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
  • Ability to work as a part of development team
  • Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced and evolving technical challenges and priorities
  • Motivation to take ownership of projects and associated tasks and to drive them to completion
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies (Agile Scrum preferred but not required)
