Summary :

Pathfinder is seeking a Senior Social Behavior Change (SBC) Advisor for the anticipated USAID Building Healthy Families activity in Pakistan.

This position will oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of SBC interventions in close coordination with the Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party.

S / he will lead SBC capacity building, partnership development, and integration of behavioral interventions across the project.

S / he must have at least a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline and at least 10 years of demonstrated experience in design, implementation and monitoring of large-scale development programs.

Superior verbal and written communication skills and experience establishing robust partnerships with the private sector and local government organizations to support SBC are required.

Prior experience in strengthening the capacity of government health system staff and CSOs is desired.

Key Job Outcomes :

  • Strategic Leadership : Work with colleagues across the project to design and implement SBC interventions behavior change that can be applied across the activity and that are solidly grounded on behavioral theory, research and audience insights.
  • Capacity Building and Partnership Development : Support and develop the expertise and capacity of internal staff, local NGOs and CSOs, and government partners on SBC;
  • lead establishment of partnerships with private sector and local government organizations.

  • Strengthen evidence-based programming : Working with the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team to design and implement strategies to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SBC intervention.
  • Together ensure knowledge sharing and learning, and dissemination across the project of lessons learnt, promoting their utilization.

  • Thought Leadership : Lead efforts to stay abreast of, as well as influence, the latest global thinking on SBC and health seeking behaviors, capturing best practices that can be applied to the project’s interventions.
  • Represent Pathfinder externally including giving presentations; and organizing and attending technical meetings and consultations; among others.

  • Required Education, Training, and Experience :

  • At least 10 years of experience in developing, implementing, overseeing and evaluating health-related SBC programs.
  • SBC technical expert with an advanced degree (M.A., MHS, MPH) in public health, communications, social sciences, anthropology, behavioral economics or a related area with significant public health and / or communication experience in family planning / sexual and reproductive health.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of SBC and Individual behavior and Social Change theories, including new and evolving theory and practices.
  • Experience of Human-centered design and behavioral economics is
  • Significant experience working across complex
  • Prior experience in SBC capacity strengthening.
