The Role : Assistant Manager

Grade (relevant for internal applicants only) : Grade 9.

The Location : Islamabad, Manila and Buenos Aires.

The Team : The team covers banking and financial services news in Latin America’s largest economies in English. This includes both Latin America's biggest breaking financial stories, along with well-researched, sharply crafted analytical pieces illuminating key trends in the Latin American banking and financial industry.

Areas of coverage range from major financial company mergers to regulatory policy shifts, to market upheaval and the impact of national elections in key regional economies such as Mexico and Brazil.

Work schedule (Time shift) : Ideally America’s day shift (9 : 00AM-6PM ET). An alternative earlier shift can be considered for applicants from Manila and Islamabad.

The Impact : As part of the Latin America Financial Institutions Group news team, you will play a key role helping the team to deliver high-quality data-driven news to our international readers on topics such as credit risk, fintech, M&A activity, ESG, investment banking, lending and strategy.

You will provide support for the team by balancing editing and managerial responsibilities as determined by the daily workflow, as well as assist in the planning and discussion of the content pipeline.

Responsibilities :

  • Edits English-language breaking news stories for our real-time news platform.
  • The assistant manager position combines writing, editing and managerial responsibilities.
  • He or she will be a key member of the Latin America Financial Institutions Group News team, working with editors and reporters to craft and sharpen insightful reporting.
  • Identifies and produces value-added analytical industry pieces illuminating key trends.
  • Has an ability to leverage in-house and external data and other graphics to deliver valuable insight to readers.
  • Plays a leading role in shaping daily content by developing fresh story ideas and delivering sharp, concise content.
  • Collaborates with reporters and data journalists in LFIG and other teams in the newsroom.
  • Balances writing and editing responsibilities with managerial and administrative tasks.
  • Has strong communication skills and can work well under pressure.
  • What We’re Looking For :

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably linked to business, management, editing, or related fields)
  • Fluency in English and Spanish necessary. Portuguese is also recommended
  • Proven professional journalism experience, including English-language copy
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • At least two to three years of business journalism experience
  • Ability to deliver sharp, concise content to daily and weekly deadlines
  • Command of journalistic best practice (AP style, libel issues, etc.)
  • An affinity for analyzing numbers, using in-house data intelligence, financial reports and other industry information.
  • Knowledge of financial market & economic trend analysis
  • Someone skilled with workflow management tools.
  • Assist in management of usage reports in excel and analytics software.
  • Candidates will need to pass in-house editing test, prior to interviews with the team.
