The Head of Environment, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S), EMEA is responsible for developing and leading effective processes, programs and continuous improvement to deliver EHS&S performance across the EMEA.
The position is designing and implementing EHS&S strategies for our manufacturing and non-manufacturing locations together with the sub-regional EHS&S teams.
He / she ensure full compliance with external and internal EHS&S requirements and builds a collaborative, positive, structured and self-sustaining zero-incident culture across the region.
Core Responsibilities :
EHS&S performance - Overall leadership for the region’s EHS&S activities, programs, processes and continuous improvement to deliver EHS&S performance.
Develops and implements strategies to enable world class EHS&S performance. Uses KPIs, trends and metrics, as well as benchmark and sets measurable EHS&S targets for the region.
Standardizes process and practices across the region.
Culture - Serves as a champion for company culture and values and facilitates bringing the company Purpose to Life. Nurtures a culture that is fully aware and in compliance with federal and provincial regulatory requirements and transforming towards a behavioral norm of Care First
Compliance Develops and implements systems to ensure compliance with external and internal EHS&S requirements across the region.
Anticipates future requirements and advises of changes in legislation. Develops strategies to ensure compliance. Participates in regional and global EHS&S audits.
Emergency response Ensures compliance with crisis management and emergency response policies. Responsible for adherence to EHS&S reporting and incident investigation.
Collaboration Collaborating with global, regional and local teams as well as with external stakeholders. Drives transparency, information sharing, and learning from failures.
Represents EHS&S to government agencies, customers and other stakeholders as needed.
Capabilities Defines capability gaps and training needs. Defines and develops training programs together with key stakeholders to build required capabilities.
Provides coaching, mentoring, recommendations, feedback and support to direct reports and colleagues across the organization.
Supports in succession planning and successor development for EHS&S roles.
Qualified candidates will have :
Strong experience in managing EHS&S teams and processes in an international environment of the process industry, preferably in the chemical or food industry.
Multi-site management of EHS&S processes and programs
Master s Degree in Engineering / Safety / Environmental or similar.
Proven track record to work with senior leadership teams to advance EHS&S culture and performance
Social empathy and cultural awareness, able to work across all levels and geographies
Exceptional ability to develop positive relationships and lead through influence, build consensus and prioritize action and results
Outstanding communicator with excellent presentation and strong written and oral communications skills
Exceptional project management skills and the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive to completion
Demonstrated ability to think strategically
Ability to effectively manage and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key results and deliverables
Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and agile
Flexibility to travel internationally across all of Europe, Middle East, and Africa
Working knowledge of implementing and maintaining EHS management systems, e.g. ISO 14.001, ISO 45.001
Experience in M&A due diligence and business integration preferred
Fluent in English, written and verbal
