Job Role / Responsibilities :
The primary purpose of the job is to provide strong strategic, financial and operational leadership for all aspects of the New Private Wing (NPW).
Lead as the change agent’ in the planning and implementation of turnaround strategies’ that deliver the highest quality of care, unparalleled patient satisfaction and experience and budgeted financial performance.
Oversee the day-to-day operations. Analyze, report and improve key performance indicators. Focus on reinforcing policies.
Introduce innovative processes that objectively alert and mitigate issues at the point of care. Work closely with all clinical, non-clinical, and support service teams, to build a strong culture of patient-oriented service.
Lead, manage and coach NPW staff, to feel empowered and accountable for their outcomes. Influence staff to set priorities and maximize budget resources, reinforced by the AKU mission.
Specific responsibilities include :
Lead the planning, development, and implementation of the Strategic Operating Plan in line with the overarching Hospital strategy.
Fully participate as a member of the executive management team.
Turn business objectives into effective, affordable, and achievable action plans, which correspond to key performance indicators meeting or exceeding mandatory targets and / or best-established guidelines.
Represent NPW in operational review forums and develop and maintain productive relationships with all internal partners and key stakeholders.
Ensure NPW, in relation to Operations’, is compliant with all patient and service delivery, policies, procedures and requirements.
Ensure high standards of governance for all NPW health care services including the identification and control of risks to achieve effective, efficient and positive outcomes for patients and staff across the Hospital.
Work closely with Clinical Chiefs and Quality & Patient Safety Chief, to highlight operational / clinical gaps where the policies, procedures and requirements pertinent to services across the NPW are not being followed.
Support in the implementation of quality initiatives across NPW focusing primarily on clinical audits, risk management, patient complaints, patient centered service delivery, patient satisfaction / experience and relevant issues.
Promote and effect a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment for services / operations across the NPW in line with existing requirements.
Establish collaborative operational / clinical relationships and working protocols between clinical and operational staff at all levels (Physicians, Surgeons, Hospitalists, Nurses, Housekeeping, Nutrition & Food Services, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Laboratory, Clinical Imaging, Unit Receptionists and Patient Billing).
Manage collaborative operational relationships and protocols with outpatient health service providers, Consulting Clinics, Medical Centers, Laboratories and Home Health Services, to ensure an integrated and smooth patient experience for elective and non-elective NPW services.
Work with facilities management, information technology, biomedical engineering, and other support teams, of hard and soft services to provide high standards of service and environment for patients and staff.
Work closely with MarCom to define NPW marketing, external communications and media relations strategies, tactics, and messaging to targeted potential / existing patient groups to increase awareness and improve patient occupancy.
Assess relative cost / value benefits of hospital services vs. purchase of care / materials for NPW.
Manage recurrent and capital financial expenses, forecasting and budget preparation.
Work closely with finance to review and evaluate systems and processes used to identify opportunities for improvement.
Respond to financial and risk management audit outcomes, addressing areas of noncompliance.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements :
Master’s degree or higher in Health Administration, Health science, public health, business, healthcare management, or a related field is required.
Minimum of 15 years in a healthcare leadership position, with knowledge of inpatient and outpatient operations.
Knowledge of sales, marketing, and operations in the healthcare setting.
Develop and implement strategies and practices to deliver exceptional service and teamwork.
Solve problem and make decisions in a diverse, fast paced environment.
Analyze different data sources and produce actionable outcomes to improve performance indicators.
Manage projects and multi-task to deliver on quality and on time results.
Excellent communications and interpersonal relations with people at multiple levels of the organization.
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, other health-services, food, and housekeeping staff to ensure prompt service for our patients, families, and visitors.
Work closely with the Director of Care and Hospitalist Medicine to ensure seamless services.
Liaise with the Director Facilities Management and the Manager Biomedical Engineering to ensure proper maintenance on all installations and medical equipment.
Coordinate with the Billing Department to ensure the timely and discrete billing and handling of all financial matters.
Work closely with human resources to offer training programs relevant to service excellence.
