The  Cloud Solution Architect  would need to engage with customers and partners to position the value of Oracle’s cloud offerings as well as playing a key role in accelerating these partners & customers cloud capabilities to meet their massive demand. The Cloud Solution Architect will be instrumental in helping customers accelerate their digital transformations by moving workloads and deploying new cloud native projects on to Oracle’s cloud infrastructure and platforms. The Cloud Solution Architect will also help customers in defining customer’s cloud strategies aligned with customer’s business objectives and with a focus on Cloud Migrations.

Role and Responsibilities

The responsibilities related to this role are listed below:

  • Client Management : Manage technical interactions with to prospective clients and customers, capture workload migration requirements; Assist with creating cloud migration strategies; defining delivery architecture, creating the migration plans, designing the orchestration plans, and more; Determine source cloud (Physical, Virtual and Cloud) and target Workloads
  • Engagement Management : Lead Engagement from technical solution perspective; Develop and deliver outstanding prototypes and demonstrations; RFP/RFI responses; TCO preparation, solution design; use case implementation articulation; Ensure that the Oracle IaaS and PaaS cloud services are successfully adopted by the customers
  • Business Development : Customer awareness program for Oracle Cloud by running workshops and hackathons in region; Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients; organize and lead pursuit teams; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process; contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies
  • Generate Future Opportunities : Once implemented, identify opportunities for expanded use of the Oracle cloud services through by mapping customers’ business initiatives with available cloud offerings
  • Practice Development & Eminence: Develop practical solutions and methodologies; develop "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; participate in public speaking events; get published in industry periodicals
  • People Development: Perform role of counselor and coach; Extend and enlarge the knowledge base of the domain of expertise by defining novel approaches, by coaching others and by leadership in their professional communities internally and externally; Actively participate in organizational skill exchanges and transfer of expertise
  • Stay Updated : Continuous improvement in self-research, learning and readiness on the new public and Hybrid cloud services offerings and technologies; Stay abreast of global and regional cloud market and the competition
  • Skillsets and Qualifications

    Applicants who possess the following qualifications and skills would be suitable for this role

    Mandatory Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience with any of public cloud providers Oracle, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure or Google (GCP) architecture, tools and cloud methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience managing Cloud Migration programs/projects including a minimum of 2 customers in the role of implementation consultant
  • 10+ years of experience  in the IT industry, of which at least 3 years is in cloud platforms. Hands-on experience is a must.
  • Solution Architect and/or Developer Certification on AWS (preferred) or Azure or Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud
  • Experience in PaaS, DevOps and Micro-services design and development, with a minimum of two projects executed in these domains
  • Desired Skillsets
  • Broad based technology experience in:
  • cloud computing
  • applications development on Java/.NET, Python, Go, open source development tools
  • relational databases, NoSQL databases, MapReduce, analytics
  • DevOps exposure and knowledge of one or more tools such as Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Ansible
  • Micro-services design principles and coding experience
  • Understanding or experience in container technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos etc.
  • Experience in a range of cloud migration discovery, profiling, migration, and operations technologies and tools
  • Depth in various cloud migration patterns such as re-host, re-platform and refactor, ability to drive client discussions, develop scope and effort estimates to address the different migration patterns.
  • Ability to translate workload requirements into public cloud or hybrid cloud technical architecture, incorporating Compute, Networking and Storage requirements in the architecture
  • Ability to engage in discussions, whiteboarding, impactful prototypes and convincing technical arguments
  • Awareness and knowledge of networking and latency considerations for different workloads
  • Experience in understanding regulatory and enterprise security considerations and designing solutions factoring such considerations
  • Broad understanding of applications and systems from Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, IBM etc.
  • Ability to architect for high availability, fail over & disaster recovery in public or hybrid cloud environments
  • Ability to write technical papers (white papers, competitive, technology, position papers, etc.)
  • Experience in migrating application workloads to the cloud (added advantage if such workloads include Oracle applications such as Oracle EBS, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards or Siebel
  • Operations and Security – customer web-based facing operations as well as traditional IT operations, management with broad experience on security and compliance
  • Be familiar with VMWare, KVM, AWS, Azure, Softlayer and Open Stack

    Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.

    As a Principal Sales Consultant you will be responsible as the expert for formulating and leading presales technical / functional support activity to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced Sales Consultants. Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities that need creative and complex solutions. Develops productivity tools and training for other Sales Consultants. Develops and delivers outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Leads any and all aspects of the technical sales process. Advises internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.

    Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 3 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 7 years business experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools. Ability to implement the most advanced product features. Thorough knowledge of system and application design. In depth knowledge of competitors. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication. Ability to travel as needed. A/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
