Job Description :

The Perseus Operating Group, a division of Constellation Software (TSX : CSU), is seeking an energetic, independent and detail oriented Assistant Manager to join our Corporate General Ledger team in the Contour office.

The individual will oversee and work closely with the Corporate GL team as well as alongside various Finance personnel both onshore and offshore in our North American offices.

The successful candidate will help provide support and guidance related to queries, and provide oversight to direct reports.

The selected candidate will get the opportunity to work in diverse areas of finance under the team of experienced professionals.

  • Key Responsibilities :

  • Maintain a process improvement mindset and be someone that can see the bigger picture, critically evaluate processes and proactively recommend improvements.
  • Have proven team management success as the candidate will be responsible for overseeing 3 staff. Proven results of being a coach and reviewer who helps and grows previous team members.
  • Have a proven track record for having process management in a complex organization.
  • Prior experience with writing documentation for internal processes and controls .
  • Experience working in a team environment enabling collaboration amongst team members and the organization.
  • Assist with providing review, guidance, and oversight to the corporate GL function on a variety of tasks. Prior experience with Corporate GL functions for a variety of tasks including items such as :
  • Fixed Asset / intangible asset amortization, and bank reconciliations.
  • HST netting, record corporate tax entries and other AP entries.
  • Monthly reconciliations - Payroll clearing, accrual reconciliation, audit, user conference, payroll deduction, and intercompany reconciliation with related parties.
  • Monthly accruals for legal, audit, employee payroll and head-office items.
  • Cross charges for from head office to various Business units including cross boarder transactions.
  • Maintaining GL hygiene.
  • Processing of payroll uploading and posting for CAD and US entities.
  • The input of head office and bonus forecasts into consolidation tools.
  • Client expense processing including tracking late submission and the personal expense count report.
  • Report on the vacation accrual for CAD and US entities.
  • Perform crystal report invoice template updates.
  • Perform the yearend bonus reconciliation.
  • Assists with data analytics and creating ad hoc reports for management to review.
  • Assist with the financial matters with an emphasis on month-end financial reporting, operational support and ad-hoc analytics.
  • Education and Technical Skills :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • ACCA or a similar professional accounting designation is a must.
  • 6+ years of professional experience from a public accounting or a similar corporate finance / accounting environment demonstrating a knowledge of a Corporate GL function.
  • Expert understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Experience working in a complex matrix organization is a plus.
  • Proven experience with training of staff in relation to the Accounting and Finance duties.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute the month-end close schedule, including timeline development and preparation of account reconciliations.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including sophisticated Excel workbooks and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Great Plains, Net Suite, banking applications or other similar programs is a plus.
