LAS starts by listening to the voices of the vulnerable and disempowered within the legal system and combines their needs with the values of equity, fairness and inclusion to change the way we view and tackle present day challenges facing the attainment of justice in our society.

  • The organization adopts a two pronged approach within the larger framework of access to justice in Pakistan. The first aspect of programming is to provide direct assistance on a case by case and individualized basis through provision of legal representation;
  • akin to plugging in gaps in the provision of legal aid. The second aspect of programming is aimed at systems level repair through the legal empowerment approach which seeks to increase knowledge of law amongst common users for effectuating more access and change within the surrounding legal ecosystem.

    Details of VacancyLAS seeks to appoint a full-time Office Coordinator for its Mediation Centre to provide administrative assistance to run and manage and mediation centre and ensure that transcribing support is provided to the mediators.

    The Office Manager will responsible for drafting required documents, scheduling mediation meetings, transcribing mediations and Arbitrations, taking detailed minutes, emailing clients critical information, supervising staff, coordinating and administrating mediation services provided by the centre.

    Key ResponsibilitiesTasks will include the following : Managing mediation center staff, assigning work and evaluating staff work to meet the compliancesScheduling the cases and coordinating with the parties for setting the timelinesReviewing case files referred to mediation center to identify issues and updating Director on each caseMaintaining a database of clients, partners, cases and other critical informationTranscribing all meetings and taking detailed minutes (to email to senior management or clients)Ensuring proper documentation of cases reviewed, mediated and mediation outcomesPrepare, compiles, and sorts documents for the cases (including printing of critical documents)Verifies and logs receipt of data.

    Transcribes manual source data into the required electronic format.Transfers information from paper formats into computer filesPerforms high-volume data entry using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other computer software.

    Verifies integrity of data by comparing it to source documents.Reviews data for errors, missing pages, or missing information and resolves any discrepancies.

    Maintains a filing system and protects confidential customer information.Performs regular backups to ensure data preservation.

    Maintains a satisfactory level of quality and productivity per department standards.Completes additional assigned tasks as required.
