Position Purpose & Summary :
Cargill Premix & Nutrition (CPN) is one of the businesses operating under the Cargill Animal Nutrition (CAN) group. We seek to become our customers’ partner of choice through a practical, applied, approach to delivering industry leading nutrition solution concepts.
Through sharing of technical advice and delivery of CPN concepts, we strive to become the customer’s responsible partner for growth when evaluating decisions to optimize their organization’s financial performance.
The Strategic Marketing & Technology (SMT) function combines CAN's strategic marketing, technology, research & development (R&D), communications, strategic business development (SBD), and strategic accounts management under one function.
SMT leverages market and customer insights to drive strategic choice, develop offerings and capabilities, activate the organization and drive business and technology investments to achieve our CAN 2020 goals.
This role reside in the technology space of the SMT function. It enables the regional business within CPN Southeast Asia (SEA) & Pakistan to enhance its commercial growth agenda on species products, concepts and services as part of the overall portfolio that is being offered to our customers.
The incumbent is responsible to create strong connection with our national / regional customers, continuously improve technical skills of our team and successfully implement new concepts.
Principal Accountabilities :
Technology Strategy, Solution Identification and Deployment - 80%
Acts as primary technology contact for national / regional Customer Accounts with significant business impact.
Directly interacts with the customer’s highest level of Technology Leadership (i.e. Chief Technology Officer, VP of Product Development, and Director of R&D) for mid-
sized customers or R&D team for large customers to understand the business strategy and assess the needs of the customer.
Partners with the Commercial teams to acquire new business from potential customers with significant business impact (i.
e. participate in visits, interact with technical teams of potential customers); and / or implement technology & support in delivering upon the overall regional gross margin target.
Independently explores competitor capabilities and market information along with comparison to CPN capabilities to determine gaps and how CPN can best serve the customer and provide feedback on that to the regional SMT function.
Lead the systematic roll out of technology development (product, concept or service launches) according the launch plans for the regional business in close cooperation with the regional SMT function, including delivering upon targeted gross margin growth from new initiatives determined in the annual deployment plan of the regional SMT Lead.
Roll out training & best practice sharing in the region to make sure all relevant team members have the necessary knowledge to successfully position our species portfolio.
Represents CPN in relevant external organizations, committees, technical exhibitions and groups to appropriately influence external experts and customers on CPN’s opinions as well as technology strategy.
As a benchmark we would like this role to spend around 80% of the time customer focused, whether this is side by side working with Commercial Lead or giving support on distance or training and deploying our technology at customers’ site
Technology Development, Internal communication and Consultation - 20%
Understanding customer needs, translating them into technology development opportunities and provide this input to the regional SMT Species team.
Involved in a content driven role for the regional SMT projects. Where relevant, to take an active role in best practice sharing within the region by interacting actively with peers and the regional Species platform.
Lead projects with a regional character on the regional SMT agenda that may or may not be on the regional SMT priority list.
The regional SMT will always be informed and kept up to date to ensure awareness and possible future leverage.
Provide coaching and facilitates knowledge transfer to more junior team members
Minimum Required Qualifications :
Master degree (or equivalent experience) in animal nutrition, animal science or other related study
Strong technology know-how on Poultry
Over 5 years demonstrated expertise in species nutrition and production with a leading agribusiness based in SEA or Pakistan.
Strong customer focus
Strong experience in the Southeast Asia market & Pakistan
Good stakeholder management skills
Fluent in English and at least one other Asian language
Preferred Qualifications :
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Poultry nutritionist or Poultry farm production manager
Familiar with feed formulation systems
Demonstrated broiler and / or layer-breeder production and farm management experience
Demonstrated feed manufacture / processing knowledge
Demonstrated poultry nutrition skillsets
Strong network within the scientific / technology environment in Southeast Asia & Pakistan
Excellent reputation among peers in the animal nutrition / production Industry
Other relevant information to the position :
Broad technology and commercial perspective in Cargill Animal Nutrition’s activities in Asia. Extensive interaction with local, regional and global business units and functions.
Formal and on-the-job training for applied nutrition across species and customer segments in the industry. Preferably based in Pakistan, this role will include regular travels in order to support other markets within CPN South-East Asia region.
