The role is based out of Dubai, UAE & will be reporting to the Regional Procurement Manager. The successful applicant will take ownership of purchasing and logistics support for a fleet of vessels under direct management.

Travel at short notice to countries within the region is to be expected.

We offer

This role provides the incumbent the responsibility to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of goods and services (incl non-

technical) for Svitzer’s Operations. This includes, but is not limited to, P2P process implementation and optimization, vendor relationship management, shipping and logistics of goods as well as general cost and supply optimization of all aspects of Svitzer Operations.

The position offers a unique opportunity for a pro-active and organized individual to exercise functional leadership across a large operation, building a culture of technical excellence and craftsmanship across the fleet.

This position will be able to draw from a well-developed toolbox within the Global Svitzer organization, selecting and applying practices from other parts of the world and applying in a local context.

A network of seasoned professionals across various geographies are your go-to peers for sparring and consultation. The AMEA Region currently operates vessels in ports and terminals in India, Egypt, Angola, Morocco, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Bangladesh and Russia and is shortlisted for large projects is other geographies.

Total Cost Ownership

  • Monitor, evaluate and optimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) related to purchased goods & services in the AMEA Region
  • Inventory

  • Define, execute and monitor inventory strategies while supporting the buildup of local inventories and warehouse structures
  • Actively manage and reduce costs through bulk purchases, consolidation and timely inventory management
  • Vendors / Key suppliers

  • Oversee and manage regional and local vendors, developing frame agreements and long-term price lists, keeping cost and quality awareness in mind
  • Analyze, evaluate and consolidate vendors used in the region against collected purchase data in AMEAs local operations driving long term engagement and FAs through spend analysis
  • Manage local Vendor creation and drive Vendor database management with source-to-contract optimization and fixed pricelists for local operations
  • Purchasing

  • Support local purchasers throughout the region by traveling regularly to the local operations, promoting procurement processes and supporting Svitzer P2P understanding
  • Act as regional back-up for countries purchasing needs
  • We are looking for

    Qualifications and Experience required

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in a business discipline.
  • 5-7 years extensive experience in Procurement and Purchasing, ideally in the Marine Industry
  • Experience with Procurement (Vendor Management) and Purchasing
  • Previous experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS)
  • Frame agreement and contract management skills
  • Special Skills required :

  • Experience in marine Administration & Purchasing.
  • MS Office suite
  • Sertica or any other Procurement / PMS
  • Essential requirements :

  • Fluency in both oral and written English
  • Knowledge of IT applications, MS Office (proficient user in Word, Excel)
  • Strong communicator, good negotiating and solid presentation skills
